Oganyan E.S., Kozin A.E., Shitkin S.L., Frolov A.A., Abakumov A.A. Thermo hardening of the cast side frames of trucks of freight wagons of steel 20 GFL to increase their durability
The complex of mechanical properties of cast side frames of trucks of freight wagons made of low-carbon low-alloy steel 20 GFL, which have undergone thermal hardening (quenching and tempering) after normalization, is presented. It is justified to increase the durability of the side frames by improving the microstructure of steel (sorbitol tempering).
Keywords: Cast side frame, durability, thermal hardening, quenching, self-release.

Kulikov V.Yu., Baiseyitova E.A., Kvon S.S., Tulegenova Sh.N. Study of structure of briquettes from steel chips ShKh15 and castings from charge with briquettes
The article presents a study of the structure of briquettes made of ShKh15 steel chips and castings obtained using these briquettes as a charge. The work includes an analysis of the technological parameters of the briquetting process, as well as an assessment of the strength characteristics and structural uniformity of the resulting briquettes. The article emphasizes the importance of briquetting as an effective technology that can improve the quality of finished products and reduce the negative impact on the environment, and also offers directions for further research in this area.
Keywords: Briquette, casting, microstructure, mechanical properties.

Leushin I.O., Vakhidov U.Sh., Subbotin A.Yu., Titov A.V. Application of a combined method for curing liquid glass rod mixtures containing crushed silicone rubber waste
The article presents the results of studies of the main operational properties of a liquid glass core mixture with the addition of crushed silicone rubber waste, cured by hot air treatment and subsequent purging with carbon dioxide.
Keywords: Production waste, liquid glass core mixtures, core knockout, softening additives, carbon dioxide purge.

Illarionov I.E., Nikitin A.V. Development of mixtures for molds based on smelted models using borate complexes
Based on the experimental data obtained, effective mixtures for casting molds according to smelted models of composition, % were developed: quartz sand – 10; clay – 2; borate complex – 7...9; water – the rest is up to 100. Borate complexes have been studied: sodium borocarbamide (BKN); sodium borophosphate (BFN); sodium borosilicate (BSN). To establish the optimal concentration of the borate complexes under consideration in the composition of the molding mixture, the relative density and conditional viscosity of the suspension were determined depending on the content of BKN, BFN and BSN. It was found that with an increase in the content of borate complexes in the mixture, the density and viscosity of the suspension increase. Studies of the tensile strength of samples of the developed mixtures after 1 and 24 hours after manufacture have shown that molding mixtures with borate complex additives have higher strength values in comparison with the ethyl silicate composition.
Keywords: Mixtures, molds, smelted models, borate complexes, sodium borocarbamide, sodium borophosphate, sodium borosilicate, ethyl silicate, density, viscosity, strength, surface purity of castings.

Yasnitsky L.N., Martynenko S.V., Polenova M.F., Mezentsev A.S. Artificial intelligence to reduce casting defects
An artificial intelligence system (AIS) has been created based on a neural network trained on data from the production process of steel castings weighing up to 500 kg obtained by the open-hearth method. The AIS has 20 input parameters characterizing the chemical composition of the metal, melting parameters, out-of-furnace steel treatment modes, season, meteorological conditions, etc. The output parameter is the percentage of defects "Hot crack". Examples of using the AIS to reduce the percentage of defects by adjusting the parameters of the casting process are given. An example of using the AIS as a decision support system for an engineer-technologist aimed at eliminating the consequences of an emergency situation associated with an unplanned change in the conditions of the casting process is given.
Keywords: Open-hearth furnace, casting process, chemical composition, hot crack, percentage of defects, neural network, artificial intelligence system, decision support.
