Petrov V.N., Lepov V.V. Criteria of Evaluating Crack Resistance of Structural Materials

For evaluating crack resistance in the conditions of brittle dynamic fracture, an energy criterion based on the dependence of energy flow coming to the apex of crack on the rate of its propagation has been worked out.

Ivanov D.O., Kutyavina E.V., Abuzin Y.A. Formation of the Interaction Zone in the Al-SiO System After Mecnanical Activation and Annealing
Authors have suggested a study of the reaction zone of interaction in the Al - glass powder system after mechanical activation and annealing. As the initial materials were crushed silicate glass and powder Al. In the study, after a series of experiments in compacted and annealed samples was found, the reaction zone and the influence of annealing time on the depth of this zone.

Lisovsky A.V. Production of Axisymmetric Castings from Nodular Iron with Improved Properties
Traditionally, hollow axisymmetric nodular iron billets for machine building are produced by casting. However, during casting high rejects are generated for characteristic casting defects. Use of various methods of deforming nodular iron billets allows partially eliminating casting defects and improving mechanical and service properties of products. A method of forming should be chosen in consideration of special features of products' intended use.

Muravyov V.I., Bakhmatov P.V., Lonchakov S.Z., Fizulakov R.A. Hydrogen Build-up in the Surface Layer of Ti Blanks during Manufacturing of Structures
Influence of adsorbed moisture on the hydrogen content in the surface layer of Ti alloy blanks. Cutout operations by laser, plasma and other action are accompanied by melting processes and exclude loosening of the surface and nearsurface layer, create an oxide-nitrite film, a nearsurface layer with a considerable increase in hardness. Hydrogen content in the surface layer of specimens is virtually the same as in the base metal. An exception - specimens whose surface is formed by plasma and flame cutting.

Burkov A.A., Salokhin A.V., Sablin P.A., Serebrennikova A.G. Method of Strengthening Wooden Tooling
For creating a wear-resistant coating on wooden tooling, metallization of the outer surface by gas-thermal spraying was used. The use of the proposed technology allowed increasing the strength of the surface layer of wooden patterns, while reducing by many times the coefficient of friction of the pattern against the blank.

Kozin V.M., Maryin B.N., Maryin S.B., Popova N.A., Gracheva O.A., Jun Yao Prospects of Using Ice Expansion Energy in Deformation of Blanks
Investigated was the possibility of using ice as a working body in bead forming of tubing stock, as well as the possibility of using the energy of ice expansion during its cooling for forming sheet billets. Prospects of the proposed technology are shown.

Afanasieva L.E., Barabonova I.A., Zorenko P.O., Zubkov N.S., Grechishkin R.M. Surface Topographic Features of Tool Steel after High-Speed Recrystallition at Gas-Laser Cutting A study is made of the surface topography conditioned by gas laser cutting of P6M5 tool steel. It is shown making use of optical, atomic force and scanning electron microscopy that after laser processing the surface layer of the samples is characterized by dendritic structure with funnel-shaped pores filling the interdendritic space.
