Chaikin V.A. et al. Inoculation of Cast Iron for Cylinder Block Castings
Effect of cylinder block casting inoculation process on the chemical composition and mechanical properties of cast iron was investigated. As a result of selecting an optimum process casting rejects caused by chill and graphite rash were completely eliminated. The affordability of the new process adopted at OAO Diesel-YMZ amounted to more than > 500,000 rubles.

Milyayev A.F. et al. Solidification of a Large Iron Casting in a Sand Mold with a Metal Core
The article discusses the process of solidification of a thick-walled iron casting by the example of a chill mold for sheet rolls. The investigations confirm the supposition about the melting of the primary metal skin formed at the core surface during the further cooling of the casting. The main ways of improving quality of the casting are indicated.

Yurin Y.M. Designing the Processes of Solidification and Cooling of Marine Propeller Blade Steel Castings in Molds
The article discusses the origination of defects in marine propeller blade castings during casting process, heat treatment and machining. Because of absence of methods of designing the processes of blade casting solidification and cooling in molds, impossibility of determining temperature fields during casting and heat treatment, temporary and residual stresses, it is impossible to develop a process of making marine propeller blades with necessary service reliability and durability.

Kaplun V.I. et al. New Foundings in Investigations into the Cherkassy Bentonite

Boldin A.N. Molding Sand Deformation at Impact Compaction.
Based on the analysis of the "stress-deformation" diagram at impact compaction the peculiarities of deformation of high-strength molding sand with low humidity have been established: virtually no resilient return and no back deflection.

Bochenin V.I. Control of humidity of forming mixes by means of radioisotope way
In clause is offered a radioisotope way of the express train - analysis of humidity of the forming mixes used for casting manufacture in a machine engineering industry. The physical essence of it is based on radioscopying a controllable material by a narrow bunch of scales-quantums of radionuclide. Applicability of a way in an industrial variant has allowed to lower quantity of defective production.

Alexandrov A.Y. et al. Improving the Manufacturability of High-Loaded Thin-Walled Parts from Maraging Steels
Approbation of methods providing waste processing in the production of parts from maraging steels with a low metal recovery has been carried out. Chemical composition, structure and mechanical properties of grade 03H18K13M5T-ВИ (ЧС35-ВИ) steel after electroslag chill casting and electroslag remelting in a water-cooled crystallizer have been studied. Rational heat treatment modes have been chosen proceeding from the conditions of obtaining a material structure maximally approximated to the structure of the initial billet (rolled stock).

Rizun A.R. et al. Ways of Enhancing Effectiveness of Electric Discharge Cleaning of Precision Castings
The ways of improving of refinement quality of precision molding are proposed. The data, supporting the increase of effectiveness of electric-discharge refinement of precision molding in active discharge media providing the softening of core sand and sand mixtures of improved strength are cited, and the method of complex treatment is proposed.

Soifer V.M. Certification of Molding, Coremaking and Sand Preparation Equipment for the Foundry Industry

Saveraid G. et al. Transforming Mold Line Data Into Process Knowledge

Dubodelov V.I. et al. Multifunctional Technological Module as a Tool for Improving Casting Quality
The features of complexation of different technological methods of outfurnace treatment of melts in one technological module are grounded. Efficiency of complexation of magnetohydrodynamic methods and electrical hydro-pulse treatment of melt on a pre-casting stage is shown. Data showing efficiency of treatment by the module are presented. Offered novation can be used for the rise of level of quality in foundry production.
