V.A. Duyunova, I.Yu. Mukhina, Z.P. Uridiya (FGUP "VIAM") New Burn-on Preventing Additives for Magnesium Casting Molds
The article discusses FGUP VIAM's development of new compositions of burn-on preventing additive that is necessary to protect Mg and Mg alloys against oxidation and inflammation when being cast in sand molds. The developed materials have been tested and successfully adopted at a number of foundries in casting Mg alloys in various systems.

S.I. Repyakh (OOO "ITL" Lasso", Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine) Thermophysical Properties of Materials in Modern Pattern Compounds
Experimental values of thermophysical properties of materials in pattern compounds used in investment casting are presented. A criterion indirectly characterizing stability of chemical composition of material being used is proposed.

V.V. Nazaratin (GNTs "TsNIITmash") Risering of Large Steel Castings
Based on domestic and foreign experience, methods of designing the main parameters of steel casting risers taking into consideration reduced thicknesses, their solidification time and feed deficit as applied to cooling conditions in conventional sand molds, as well as heat-insulating and exothermal heating of risers, have been generalized.
The range of economic expedience of using riser heating means depending on their size and effectiveness of heating mixes is shown.

Budanov Y.N. The Seven Main Myths and Delusions about Foundry
Technical delusions disturb to create competitive foundry manufactures. The main thing is the experience of the best foundries in the world. The developed foundry manufacture should correspond to world parameters of efficiency: to casting output volumes (t/a) per employee and per sq. meter of the occupied areas. Innovations of expendable forms - Seiatsu-process and V-process provides the most qualitative and most cheap casting.

The article reports about the results of determining of the Mg17Al12-phase plasticity, which was alloyed some elements. The example of reducing of magnesium alloys hot shortness in casting automobile wheels is reached.
