Ten E.B. The Basics of Filtration Refining of Liquid Metals. Part II
Discussed are the historical aspects of development of the liquid metal filtration process, mechanisms of delivery and deposition of nonmetallic inclusions (NMI) on the filter surface, limiting factors of filtration refining, and quantitative regularities of capturing NMI under the conditions of isothermal and nonisothermal filtration, as well as at supercritical rates.

Matveyeva M.O. Structure and Properties of Iron Castings Microalloyed with Titanium
Discussed are results of the effect of microalloying with Ti in the amount of 0.017 - 0.44% on iron casting properties, in particular, their structure, hardness, corrosion and electrochemical resistance, and wear resistance. Worsening of the corrosion resistance in acidic and neutral media of cast products microalloyed with Ti was established. It was also found that the wear of the experimental pearlitic gray iron in quarry sand and silicon carbide was determined by different factors: with a soft abrasive the main factor was pearlite microhardness, and,as it increased, the abrasion was decreasing; at abrasion in a hard abrasive the abrasion was determined by graphite distribution. Refining and appearance of interdendritic graphite increased the abrasion of cast iron. To improve the service properties of castings there was recommended a Ti content of ? 0.5%, and it must be used as part of an alloying complex.

The structure and properties of cast magnesium alloy MLS in filtering it through a carbon-containing materials. It is shown that the use of graphite, magnesite and magnesium melt filtration efficiently refine it.

Korotchenko A.Y., Polyakov S., Bast Y., Fokin Y.O., Pastukhov L.V. Methods of Making Casting with an Amorphous Structure
The article discusses the main methods of making amorphous metals and alloys. Methods of making castings with an amorphous structure in the form of bands and rods are presented. Possible casting cooling rates in a cryogenic liquid and casting cooling rates at contact interaction with a massive chill are evaluated. It is shown that the calculated cooling rate values are sufficient for making shaped microcastings with an amorphous structure.

Golovachenko V.P., Vernidub A.G., Duka V.M., Borisov G.P. Casting Nonferrous Metals and Alloys into a Metal Foil Mold
Possibility of production of aluminium cylindrical cast billets in diameter 25x120 mm from alloy AK7 in the metal mould by thickness 300 microns from an aluminium foil by water quenching from a liquid state, shower cooling or in atmospheric conditions is explored. Depending on conditions of cooling dendritic, globular and mixed microscopic structure of cast billets was obtained. Cooling curves of melt in mould, microscopic structure, level of physical-mechanical properties, diagrams of production of cast billets are shown.
