High-strength nodular iron created 65 years ago has been recognized as an unsurpassed construction material by the diversity of its technical applications toproduce cast products for the most critical applications. Nowadays high-strength nodular iron is widely used to produce parts of any mass and geometrical complexity for various applications in all industry branches of every country. First of all the multifunctionality of its diverse application as a material having no analogs in the world practice should be pointed out.

Under the Power of High-Strength Cast Iron. The Milestones of the Long Way In the 80s, specialists at OAO KAMAZs Foundry mastered the production of highstrength cast iron. Sometimelater, they learned to produce that grade of cast iron in four different ways. And today the most critical parts for KAMAZ trucks, as well as parts for third-party customers are made by KAMAZ foundrymen from high-strength cast iron.

Gushchin N.S., Takhirov A.A. Inoculation of Cast Iron under Cover Material
To produce nodular iron, there has been developed a technology of spheroidizing inoculation of liquid iron under various cover materials. The melt was inoculated both in an induction furnace and in an open ladle. A Ni-Mg-(7% Mg) master alloy and a Mg-free Cerium additive in the form MC40 (40% Ce) were used as an inoculant.

Bublikov V.B., Nesteruk E.P., Bachinskyi Y.D., Berchuk D.N. Transition of magnesium in castings at in-mould modifying in a once-through and centrifugal reactors
Data about influence of technological parameters on the magnesium content in the metal castings and its absorption coefficient at modifying in once-through and centrifugal reactors are presented. Rational parameters of in-mould modifying for quality castings production are determined.
