Panfilov E.V. The outlooks for production of vermicular graphite iron castings at PAO KAMAZ foundry
Some peculiarities of making a number of automobile castings from vermicular graphite iron at PAO KAMAZ foundry are discussed. Tasks that must be solved for the development of that prospectful technology are formulated.

Ivanova V.A., Shamina E.O. On the use of upola for obtaining CGI castings
The technology of modifying gray cast iron of cupola melting with the purpose of obtaining compacted graphite iron (CGI) is presented. The possibility of obtaining CGI with a content of spheroidal graphite not more than 20% by modifying the cast iron of cupola melting with wire containing magnesium and rare-earth metals is ascertained. The hereditary properties of cast iron are affected by both the smelting technology and the properties of the initial charge. The influence of casting coke on the structure of the cast iron is considered.

Issues of raising service durability of molds when making glass items are discussed. The advantages of the process of making glass molds from vermicular graphite iron are shown.

The first results of the complex researches by NChI KFU, KAMAZ and RC Modificator of influence of heat treatment on CGI structure and properties are presented in article. It is shown that austempering of CGI raises his strength characteristics more, than twice and, thanks to good foundry properties, exclusively high resistance of deformation, good damping capacity and mach inability, allow to expand CGI applications, in particular, instead of the alloyed SGI, including ADI.

Kuzovov S.S., Makarenko K.V., Dmitrieva N.V. Analysis of the influence of the chemical composition became on the formation of hot cracks in castings
When considering the reasons for the formation of hot cracks (H) in steel castings, it is necessary to analyze a large number of factors to determine the occurrence of a defect. Analysis of the surface of the technology of casting shows the relationship between the number of defective castings and the sequence of injection molding. The chemical composition plays an important role in the formation of H. A comparison of the chemical composition of cured and suitable castings was considered taking into account the joint influence of manganese and the sulfur content in steel 20GL the fracture toughness of castings for railway transport.

Presented are the results of effective cooperation between a scientific organization and a production plant in creating new technologies of manufacturing critical large-tonnage engineering iron castings. It is shown that on the basis of gained experience, new joint design, material science and technological developments using the existing production facilities there are all grounds for the production at OAO Petrozavodskmash of largetonnage engineering castings weighing up to 120 t from irons of various grades.

The results of the determination of the melt flow rate and the dependence of viscosity on shear rate.

Use of modern computer programs in the production of critical castings an indispensable condition of making high-quality parts. Modern methods of controlling the quality of critical castings are presented.
