Usoltcev E.A., Furman E.L., Furman I.E. The influence of heat treatment on the microstructure of cobalt stellites
The viscosity values for the experimental cobalt cast alloy Mk1 in the temperature range 1320…1700°C are determined. The effect of heat treatment on the structure of the Mk1 alloy is studied. It was found that during heating at temperatures of 1420 and 1580°C, large carbides M3C2, M7C3 decompose into smaller M23C6. The investigation of the microstructure before and after thermal treatment showed a decrease in the average grain size of the alloy by 2 times.
Key words: Cobalt stellite, valve pair, sucker rod pumps, viscosity, thermal processing.

Kashcheev I.D., Finkelstein A.B., Zlygostev S.N., Glyzina A.E., Sergeev S.A. The use of diatomite for heat insulation of casting heads made from aluminum alloys
The paper examines the possibility of using diatomite from the Ilyinsky deposit as a heat-insulating backfill for open heads of Al alloy castings. The technology was tested while casting a blade at UralCvetLit LLC (Kamensk-Uralsky). In order to optimize the casting head size, a computer simulation of cooling of the casting was carried out using the Elmer software package for different options of the production process. The simulation showed the possibility of a significant decrease in sizes of the casting head in case when diatomite was used. The economic evaluation showed the effectiveness of the proposed technology.
Keywords: Aluminum alloys, heat-insulating mixture, diatomite, computer simulation, economic efficiency.

Ovchinnikova A.O., Potapova E.D., Furman I.E., Kazantsev S.P. Efficiency of using binders for investment casting
In this work, we present a comparative analysis of binders used in investment casting process. Comparative data on the main working properties of suspensions is presented: wetting the surface of the models, final strength of ceramic molds. The technological and economic efficiency of the use of various types of silica sols is evaluated.
Keywords: ceramic shell, suspension, hydrolyzed ethyl silicate, aqueous binder, fireproof filler, model compound, casting.

Zlygostev S.N., Shefer A.A., Usoltsev E.A. Choosing a free platform for simulation of casting processes
The open source tools for modeling the processes of fluid dynamics and heat transfer and the possibilities of their application for the problems of foundry are considered. OpenFOAM, Elmer, ParaView and Salome Platform were selected as the main potential competitors for commercial casting simulators. The results of experimental calculations of casting processes using open source software are presented. The results of research on publications and the authors' own experience in the use of free software in foundry are highlighted.
Key words: computer simulation, computational fluid dynamics, mesh generator, postprocessor, scientific visualization, open source software.

Kosnikov G.A., Kalmykov A.V., Morozova L.M., Eldarkhanov A.S. Alloys with special properties
The results of research conducted at Peter the Great SPbPU in the field of development of aluminum alloys with special properties and technologies for their production are presented. In the field of aluminum alloys: the influence of plasma, magnetohydrodynamic, ultrasonic and vibration-jet effects on the structure of silumins and the behavior of dispersed particles in liquid media; aluminum-matrix alloys and composites with increased radiation-protective properties.
Keywords: special properties, production technology, plasma, magnetohydrodynamic, ultrasonic, vibration-jet effects, structure, silumins, dispersed particles, liquid media, aluminum-matrix alloys, composites, radiation-protective properties.

Komarov O.S., Rozenberg E.V., Hatsura V.M., Novaichuk I.V. Anti-veining impregnation of rods
Investigation of the effect of surface impregnation of cores made using the Cold box amin-process after drying at 180°C, holding in an oven at 870°C and after contact with molten metal on surface strength and tendency to form grooves. It has been established that the impregnation of the cores reduces the number and size of cuts without eliminating them completely. The best results were obtained for impregnating compositions that increase the surface strength of the cores.
Keywords: penetration, impregnation, surface strength of cores.

Iakovlev E.I. Thermophysical analysis of turbine blades directional solidification various methods
In this work, we performed a thermophysical analysis of turbine blades directional solidification various methods with a comparative assessment of castings cooling rate. It is shown that the directional solidification process in the tin melt provides a 5.9 time increase in the cooling rate of the casting in comparison with the Bridgman-Stockbarger directional solidification, while the directional solidification in the aluminum melt provides the cooling rate 3.7 times higher than in the Bridgman-Stockbarger process. However, the use of tin melt in the manufacture of non finish allowances turbine blades causes a number of difficulties. The main process of directional solidification used by domestic enterprises is the method with cooling in molten aluminum developed by FSUE VIAM. This process eliminated segregation defects, large carbides, and substantial porosity which is characteristic for structures obtained under conditions of low cooling rates and low temperature gradients at the growth front.
Keywords: cast turbine blades, directional solidification, heat flux, casting cooling rate.
