Verbitsky V.I. Analysis of load-bearing structures and systems for closing the forming chamber in air-impulse machines
Dynamic models of impulse molding machines have been built and a comparative study of the molding chamber locking systems with wedge and hydraulic mechanisms has been carried out. It is shown that even with the implementation of relatively soft air pulses in the elements of the bearing (power) structure of machines, large dynamic forces are created and intense oscillations are observed, accompanied by energy absorption. The advantages and disadvantages of wedge and hydraulic locking mechanisms are revealed.

Golenkov Y.V. How to correctly choose molding and core-making equipment
The topic of the article is the correct approach to the selection of foundry equipment using evaluating principles of the current production at the most efficient foundry plants in the economically developed countries of the world – leaders in the quality and production volumes of certain types of castings for the most demanding and well-known consumers. Caution about the most frequent mistakes – formal tender procedures and delegation of responsibility to engineering companies.

A device has been developed for measuring the movement of a sample of a filled sample during solidification and cooling. A schematic diagram of the device operation and the results of the test fill are given.

Zarubina O.A. Optimal use of the FLOW 3D software to solve problems of foundry technology
In many cases, when solving complex problems of casting technology, dictated, for example, by the significant dimensions of the castings or their thickness difference, the problem of saving computing resources when using the FLOW 3D program may arise. The problem of optimizing the application of this program was solved when establishing the dependence of the contamination of the casting with oxide inclusions on the temperature of the TZAL pouring the melt into the chill mold. It is shown that the use of an elastic-viscoplastic model of a melt requires large computational resources in comparison with the results obtained using a model with a variable temperature-dependent viscosity. At a melt pouring temperature of more than 923 K, the difference in results does not exceed 5%.

Khilkov D.E., Gevorkyan A.L. Model selection of slip's viscous flow
The study describes the selection method of rheology model showing the dependence of the effective viscosity on the shear rate of the slip. The following rheological models were considered as approximating functions: the power law model; the Carreau-Yasuda model; model used in the flow3d program (the Carreau-Yasuda model with correction coefficients).

The article is devoted to the issues of checking student papers for the amount of borrowed text and to the problems of control bypassing this check. The main requirements for systems for checking the amount of borrowing are listed.

Vdovin K.N., Feoktistov N.A., Pivovarova K.G., Ponamareva T.B. Thermal methods for studying the quality of bentonites when used in non-stick coatings
Using thermal analysis, we studied the qualitative characteristics of alkaline earth and alkaline bentonite, used as a binder for the molding sand or non-stick coating. It is shown that this method can establish the nature of hydrated exchange ions, determine the content of adsorption and constitutional water. The mineral composition is refined and it is proved that alkaline earth bentonite is composed of a glandular variety of montmorillonite, alkaline – aluminum montmorillonite. Associated with this is their different thermal stability and consumption of bentonite during use. It was confirmed that the best technological properties and the lowest consumption have high-quality alkaline bentonites in comparison with alkaline-earth ones.
