Boldyrev D.A., Popova L.I., Prasolov S.G., Muratkin G.V. Key parameters of the inoculation processes for the production of gray and ductile iron
The features of the formation of the structure of high-strength cast iron after late graphitizing inoculation and without it, as well as the specifics of graphitizing inoculation, which determine the factors of modifying treatment, are stated. The differences in the modification of cast iron melt with pure magnesium and ferrosilicon-magnesium ligatures are presented, and the specificity of the influence of the main elements is given for them. The main features of the mechanism of spheroidization of graphite inclusions are described with an explanation of the mechanism of their formation and growth. The main ladle methods for treating cast iron melt with magnesium are listed, and their effectiveness for producing high-strength cast iron is characterized. One of the most effective methods of producing ductile iron using the "ladle with lid" technology is analyzed in detail. Chemical elements introduced into the graphitizing modifiers are classified according to the degree of efficiency.

Information on the development and application of the centrifugal technology intended for production of aluminum master alloys is presented. Features and advantages of this method are shown in comparison with casting of master alloys into conventional molds. Information about their application in the melting of Al-alloys is given.

The article analyzes the results of a review of literature data for the selection of the optimal composition of a cold-hardening mixture for the manufacture of thin-walled castings. The article presents the results of an experimental laboratory study of the properties of samples from CTS, obtained by various methods. The article summarizes some of the results of the study, which is most appropriate for thin-walled steel castings to use the following mixture composition: filler – quartz sand; binder – clay from Kazakhstani deposits, carbamide resin, hardener.

Livshits V.B., Kushnir A.P., Mamedova I.Yu., Zyabneva O.A. An effect of the omnidirectional gas pressure on solidification and properties of steel castings
The effect of gas pressure during solidification of 35KhGSL steel on its properties was investigated. It is reported that under such solidification conditions the gas shrinkages are eliminated, the solidification rate increases and the cast structure is refined promoting production of dense castings with high physical and mechanical properties. The installation diagram of the autoclave casting unit is presented.

Gavariev R.V. About the surface roughness of zinc castings produced by die casting
The data on an influence of the coatings of the mold working surfaces on the surface roughness of zinc alloy castings made by the die casting are presented. The coatings were applied by cathode-ion bombardment. It was shown that after 150,000 pressings-in the castings produced in a mold with nitrided working surfaces had the surface roughness of Ra = 6.3 µm, and in a mold with a TiCN–TiN–MoN coating the value of Ra was equal to 3.2 µm.

Sadokha M.A. Casting of pistons
The results of studies of obtaining complex castings from aluminum alloys using the self-filling method are presented. The influence of a number of technological parameters (pouring time, chill cooling mode, the use of self-filling, etc.) on the quality of the resulting piston castings has been studied. The optimal time for filling the chill mold was determined when casting pistons. It is shown that the chill mold cooling mode has a significant impact on the quality of castings.
