Andreev V.V., Kovalevich E.V., Nuraliev F.A. An influence of adsorption processes during melt crystallization on the shape of graphite and mechanical properties of ductile cast iron
The article presents results of studies of an influence of sorption processes during the melt crystallization on the shape of graphite inclusions, the state of grain boundaries of the metal, and the plastic properties of ductile cast iron. It is shown that the low-temperature brittleness of cast iron should be considered as a result of the well-known effect of an adsorption-caused decrease in the strength of grain boundaries due to the intergranular internal adsorption of phosphorus. Compositions of the complex spheroidizing modifiers of a new generation were developed taking into account the results of the research.
Keywords: Ductile cast iron, nodular graphite, intergranular adsorption, structure, mechanical properties, nodulizing treatment, modification, complex modifiers.

Marukovich E.I., Stetsenko V.Y., Stetsenko A.V. Effect of gases on carbon steel crystallization
When water and oxygen molecules of atmospheric air interact with the melts of carbon steels, hydrogen and oxygen atoms are formed. Oxygen and hydrogen atoms dissolving in carbon steel melts have been shown to be adsorbed by elemental iron nanocrystals. Nitrogen dissolves in liquid carbon steels as part of elementary nanocrystals and iron nitride molecules. After the carbon steel melts are deoxidized, the main gas affecting the crystallization of the carbon steels is water vapor, which supplies hydrogen atoms to the melt. Adsorbed hydrogen atoms prevent nanocrystals from combining into nuclei of austenite microcrystals. It has been shown that hydrogen atoms adsorbed by elementary iron nanocrystals are demodifiers of the primary structure of carbon steels during their crystallization. The concentration of adsorbed hydrogen is proportional to the concentration of dissolved hydrogen. To modify the primary structure of carbon steels, it is necessary to reduce the concentration of dissolved hydrogen in their melts. For this, modifiers are used that actively adsorb hydrogen atoms.
Keywords: Carbon steels, gases, melt, crystallization, hydrogen, adsorption, nanocrystals.

Malinov L.S., Malinov V.L., Lavrova E.V. Creation of macrodesign of steels and cast irons by differentiated treatment technologies
The results of a number of works in the promising direction proposed back in the 70s of the last century and the increasingly implemented at present to create in alloys, including cast alloys, a regular macroheterogeneous structure using differentiated treatment technologies (DTT) are summarized. They create in alloys a macrodesign by a diverse combination of areas or layers with unequal structure, mechanical and physical properties, called gradient structure phase state (GSPS). These technologies are environmentally friendly and provide resource and energy savings by increasing product durability and reducing energy costs for processing.
Keywords: Alloys, macrodesign, differentiated treatment technologies, gradient structure phase state.

Kolpakov V.V., Rutz O.I. Increase in the operational reliability of the railway casting beam by improving the design
One of the most critical and quickly worn parts of a freight car bogie is a bolster. We developed a new design of the bolster casting with an increased carrying capacity of 25 t. Correlation between the crystallizing metal in the mold and the gating system design was established. The computer simulation of foundry processes LVMFlow CVv.6.30 was used for calculations. The new ly developed design of the bolster made it possible to successfully pass extended tests for the casting’s operational reliability. The Railway Research Institute of JSC Russian Railways (VNIIZHT) has also recommended the new design for the application in innovative bogies with a carrying capacity of 25 t. A certificate of conformity confirms this.
Keywords: Casting, bolster, design, operational reliability, modeling.

Kidalov N.A., Аdamova A.S., Kubataev Kh.-M. M., Bezmogorychnyy M.D. Gas evolution of moulding mixtures with different binders
In this work, the gas evolution of moulding mixtures containing various binders was studied. It is shown that mixtures made on the basis of organic substances have the highest values of gas evolution, while mixtures with inorganic binders have the lowest gas evolution.
Keywords: Gas evolution, moulding mixture, binder.

Belogurova O.A., Savarina M.A., Sharai T.V. Molding mixtures from the waste of Kovdor mining and processing plant
Mould mixes for foundry production are based on technogenic raw materials from Kovdor Mining and Processing Plant, namely forsterite. Currently, the use of inorganic binders, such as magnesium phosphate is associated not only with high performance, but also with improved working conditions due to the absence of harmful emissions into the atmosphere, condensates and odors, as well as thermal stability. The grain composition of the charge was selected, the ratio of filler and binder was found to improve the structural properties of the moulding mixtures, the effect of the amount of time of heating and cooling on the technical properties was shown. Graphical dependence of strength, density, and volume changes of samples from the fractional composition of the charge and heat treatment time are presented. Recycling of KovdorMining and Processing Plant waste will eliminate sources of environmental pollution, restore the lands occupied by them.
Keywords: Forsterite, moulding mixtures, magnesium phosphate cement, drying mode, strength, density, change in the volume

Chsherbakova Y.P., Dostaeva A.M., Kulikov V.Yu., Kvon S.S., Kovaleva T.V., Аdamova G.H. Casting of antifriction irons in green sand molds made from raw materials mined in Kazakhstan
The results of studies to determine the optimal composition of the facing sand for green sand casting are presented. It is proposed to use components of Kazakhstan deposits to ensure low cost of casting molds with a sand/clay ratio = 3/1 and grain size of sand up to 0.16 mm. Such a composition provides sufficient mold strength and low roughness of castings made of antifriction iron.
Keywords: Casting, antifriction iron, green sand molds, raw materials, deposit.

Bazhenov V.E., Kovyshkina E.P., Koltygin A.V., Belov V.D., Dmitriev D.N. Development of a release agent composition for the use of soluble urea patterns in the production of shell molds for investment casting
Water-soluble urea-based patterns and cores are quite often used in manufacturing large-size casing castings by investment casting. Due to their increased water absorption, it is difficult to use them if colloidal silica binders are used when preparing a slurry to create a shell mold. The paper considers the effectiveness of solutions designed to create a protective layer on the urea-based salt pattern to prevent its dissolution. The protective properties of the layer were evaluated by the wetting angle and the spreading area of water and slurry on the surface of the pattern. It has been found that protective coating formed by 3 wt.% paraffin-stearin 50/50 solution in 100 ml of benzene Kalosh provides maximum wetting angle and the smallest spreading area. The application of such a protective coating made it possible to obtain a ceramic shell with low roughness.
Key words: Investment casting, urea patterns, soluble salt patterns, colloidal silica binder, sol-gel, wetting angle.

Miroshnichenko V.S., Gutko Yu.I., Golofaev A.N. Digital and additive technologies in foundry
This article discusses the development and research of technological parameters of casting on gasified shell models in vacuum zed molds. Research has been carried out and an experimental model has been created using CAD, CAE and CAM systems, followed by its transfer to a shell 3D model using a 3D printer, made of ABS and HIPs plastics. Experiments were carried out on models printed on a 3D printer using FDM technology, followed by molding these models into sand evacuated molds and pouring using TsAM 4-1 alloy.
Key words: CAD, CAE, CAM, 3D printer, casting, experimental model, modeling, gasified shell models.
