Kolba A.V., Piiraynen V.Y. White cast iron for cast tools. Part I
With this article, the authors open a series of publications devoted to new progressive approaches to the formation the properties of metallic materials based on the hydrogen platform, first formulated and applied in practice by the renowned Russian scientist V.K. Afanasiev. Thanks to the concept of hydrogen's leading role in metallurgical processes, together with his students, he achieved exceptional results in enhancing the properties of iron-carbon alloys, including white cast iron. The article is structured in two parts, the first part provides a materials science review of tool-grade white cast iron: compositions, structural characteristics, and properties are highlighted; prospects in cast iron materials science also outlined. The study emphasizes the potential for modifying carbide properties, particularly cementite, which could improve the operational characteristics of cast iron tools in future developments. The paper provides fundamental data on wear resistance, heat treatment, tempering stability, smelting, and casting processes of tool-grade white cast iron.
Keywords:Cast tools, white cast iron, hydrogen platform, cementite, heat treatment.
Leushin I.O., Korovin V.A., Vahidov U.Sh., Garchenko A.A. Influence of liquid-phase treatment of cast iron and steel mold material on their operational resistance
The focus of the authors of the article is the results of an experimental test of the hypothesis about the positive effect of some options for the complex liquid-phase processing of cast iron and steel of stackets used to cast a nickel-based ХН50ВМТЮБ (ЭП648), for their operational resistance. It is proved that the proposed options for liquid-phase treatment help to slow down the speed of the inevitable degradation of the structure and properties of the material of the molds during their operation in the mode of low-cycle thermomechanical loading. The technical, economic and environmental effects of the implementation of development into existing production are evaluated.

Serzhan A., Kovalyova T.V., Zhumaev A.A., Kvon S.S., Kulikov V.Yu. The influence of external effects on the casting properties of high-alloy steel 40KHN3MF
The article examines the influence of mechanical vibrations and a magnetic field on the quality of castings made from high-alloy steel 40KHN3MF. The experiments showed that mechanical vibrations increase the strength and hardness of the castings, while the magnetic field primarily affects hardness. The combined effect of both factors improves the material's structure but reduces the melt's fluidity. The research results can be used to optimize casting processes and enhance the quality of metal products.

Marukovich E.I., Stetsenko V.Y., Stetsenko A.V. Thermodynamics of modification of hypereutectic silumin with atomic hydrogen
The article presents a thermodynamic calculation of the refining of hypereutectic silumin from adsorbed oxygen. It has been shown that in the melt of hypereutectic silumin, atomic hydrogen refines elementary silicon nanocrystals from oxygen atoms. Mechanism of silicon microcrystals modification by atomic hydrogen is defined. Atomic hydrogen increases the concentration of elementary silicon nanocrystals in the melt of hypereutectic silumin. This process increases the concentration of crystallization centers and increases the dispersity of primary and eutectic silicon microcrystals.
Keywords:Hypereutectic silumin, modification, thermodynamics, atomic hydrogen, adsorbed oxygen, nanocrystals, refining.
Ovchinnikova A.O., Furman E.L., Furman I.E., Ryzhkov M.A. Research of thermal expansion of ceramic shell of investment casting
One of the common defects of the ceramic shell of the investment casting is mold cracking, which leads to an increased number of casting defects. In this paper, the coefficients of linear expansion of the synthetic refractory filler – fused quartz – of different manufacturers represented on the Russian market were investigated. Regularity was found between the value of the thermal coefficient of linear expansion and the temperature of the ceramic shells calcination.
