Gordeev E.I., Zolotukhin V.I., Murat S.G. Metal purging with an inert gas in metallurgy and foundry production
Engineering and design solutions, as well as components and assemblies supplied by Vulkan-TM to implement refining blowing of the melt in order to improve the quality of castings are described. The preliminary test results are given and a number of enterprises for prospective implementation of the equipment are listed.

Davydov S.V. Diagram of the state of alloys the system iron-carbid ?-Fе2C. Part IV. Carbidization of perlite in iron-carbon alloys
It has been experimentally proved that in pearlite steel 20 and eutectic white cast iron with prolonged isothermal exposure there is a low-temperature carbide transformation of the peritectoid type, where the solid solutions of ferrite and perlite cement form a solid solution of a wide area of homogeneity based on ?-karbide Fe2C. The study of peritectoid transformation opens up new technologies for heat treatment of iron-carbon alloys and production of natural nano-strengthened composite alloys of carbide-carbide class in iron-carbon system.

Malinov L.S., Malysheva I.E., Burova D.V. Increasing the abrasive wear resistance of steels
It is shown that for a significant increase in the abrasive wear resistance of steels 35CrMoV, 45Mn and 5Cr2MоWMnSi it is necessary, due to carburizing and subsequent heat treatment according to rational modes, to obtain in their surface layer a structure in which, along with tempering martensite and carbides, there should be metastable residual austenite undergoing dynamic deformational transformation of martensite (DDMT) – self-quenching effect under loading (EUL).

Kazakov A.A., Kiselev D.V., Kazakova E.I. Quantitative methods for assessment of the microstructure of steel and alloys to revise outdated GOST Standards
Topical issues of complete revision of the existing standards regulating the quality of the structure of steels and alloys are considered. Quantitative metallography and image analysis should replace the visual methods and standard bar chards of the outdated GOST. The groundwork created by the authors which covering a wide range of solved problems of quantitative assessment of the steels and alloys structure can become the basis of domestic and international standards.

Marukovich E.I., Stetsenko V.Y., Stetsenko A.V. Metal crystallization – nanostructural process
Based on thermodynamic calculations, it is shown that metal crystallization is an equilibrium nanostructural process. At the beginning, trigonal or tetragonal structure-forming nanocrystals are formed from elementary nanocrystals. Then crystallization centers are formed from them. Further, tetragonal or hexagonal dendrites are formed from them and tetragonal or trigonal structure-forming nanocrystals.

Maydan D.A., Samboruk A.R., Titova Yu.V., Nikitin K.V. Thermodynamic analysis of combustion reactions of copper thermite mixtures of various compositions for welding of electrochemical protection outputs
The theoretical adiabatic temperatures of combustion reactions of copper thermite mixtures of various compositions were determined. The general dependence of the reaction temperature on the composition of the copper thermite mixture was revealed. The maximum adiabatic temperatures are observed in thermite mixtures of stoichiometric oxygen composition.

Kuvshinova N.N. Application of exothermic surfacing to eliminate large defects in steel castings
Data on the exothermic surfacing for healing defects in castings are presented. The thermite charge compositions for the exothermic surfacing and process conditions of its implementation are indicated. The efficiency of the exothermic surfacing process is described in comparison with other methods of eliminating of casting defects.
