Ulanovsky A.A. Thermoelectrical Converters of Thermocouples for Measuring High Temperatures

Kryuchkov O.B. et al. Effect of Ligatures with Alkaline-Earth Elements on the Quality of Acid Steel Forgings
Acid open-hearth steel 15Х3НМФА made by the duplex process (basic - acidic furnaces) by active method and intended for making forgings was treated out-of-furnace by adding silicobarium SiBa30 and silicocalcium SiCa25 to 1.7 and 4.5 t ingots. It was established that the additions of 0.6…3.0 kg/t alkaline-earth elements to liquid metal finally deoxidized in an acid furnace with silicon and manganese favor the reduction of ductility and impact toughness of steel and the enhancement of anisotropy of mechanical properties. The optimum addition of 0.3 kg/t silicobarium favoring the increase of impact toughness at 0…-60°C also results in higher uniformity of ductility and impact toughness in forgings' cross-sections.

Farisov R.D. et al. Remelting Brass Chips
In the market economy and competition conditions remelting of chips allows, with correct technology, saving a considerable amount of expensive primary charge materials. A specially selected flux and a developed process of remelting brass chips in an electroslag remelting furnace with graphite electrodes using a water-cooled copper catalyst for degassing made it possible to produce high-quality refined pigs from brass chips with a low melting loss.

Radchenko V.G. et al. Remelting Aluminum Slags in an Arc Furnace
The problem of recycling Al production waste in foundries has not been practically resolved yet, however, processing of slags makes it possible to produce secondary Al alloys in-house at lower cost. At the Altai State Technical University they have developed a method of remelting them in an AC arc furnace. The process has been applied at ZAO Zavod aluminiyevogo litya (Aluminum Foundry), which enabled them to produce up to 100…150 t/y of secondary Al alloys. The pay-back period of additional capital investments is less than 1 year.

Zhukov A.A. et al. Strength of Fe-C and C-C Bonds in Iron-Carbon Melts
An opinion has taken root that the interatomic bond forces in cementite are very weak and therefore graphitization occurs in gray, malleable and high-strength irons. It is not true. Effect and role of carbon have been examined in detail from this position. Similar analysis has also been carried out for other components of cast irons and graphitized steels, specifically, the role and effect of a high content of alloying elements in Fe-C-Si and Fe-C-Al alloys have been analyzed.

Pryakhin M.G. et al. Choosing an Optimum Cast Iron Composition for Casting Thin-Walled Sewerage System Parts in Metal Molds
Influence of the structure-formation factors - chemical composition, inoculation, T3 - on the structure and properties of iron in castings has been revealed. However, it seems impossible to calculate the quantitative structure parameters of real castings in metal mold casting. Investigations have been carried out, based on which a mathematical relationship and intensity coefficients of the influence of chill with the structure-formation factors have been obtained. These data allow choosing optimum structure-formation parameters in the stage of developing a process and adjusting them under production conditions to prevent iron casting chill.

Guryev A.M. et al. Titanizing Carbon Steels in Copper-Containing Powder Mixtures
Effect of various elements and chemical compounds on the character of diffusion hardening of carbon steels was investigated. A composition of the saturating mixture for diffusion titanizing, which ensures a high rate of saturating steel surface with Ti, is proposed. Structure, phase composition and mechanism of diffusion layer formation in carbon steels when titanizing in a saturating mixture containing Ti-Ni and Ti-Cu ligatures and hexafluortitanate as an activator is proposed. The investigation of the saturating capability of saturating media has shown that the Ti-Cu ligature is effective. Using it as an additive to a known medium for aluminothermal titanizing produces a high effect: coatings with a great amount of intermetallides form on low-carbon steel, and coatings with great amounts of carbides and intermetallides form on high-carbon steels. The powdered Ti-Ni ligature is a promising saturating medium for producing intermetallide coatings. Potassium hexafluortitanate is an effective activator of diffusion titanizing.

Sharoglazov V.S. Compact Fabric Filter in Conical-Cylindrical Shape
Fabric filters are preferred in the state of the art of dust collection technology. A non-traditional solution of the shape of the filtering surface in the form of concentrically arranged wedge-cones fastened at a single point is proposed. With this shape the working volume of the filter is utilized at a maximum - the specific index of filtering surface utilization is 1.6 times higher than in bag filters.

Shabalin V.N. et al. Centrifugal Electroslag Casting of Steel Flanges
Work has been done to optimize the process variables of centrifugal electroslag casting by the example of flanges with an internal diameter of 200 from grade 09G2S steel. In particular, changing the angular velocities of the metal mold, in which a casting was being produced, with simultaneously changing the liquid metal feed rate resulted in producing more precise castings, 1.5-2 times lower machining allowances. The chemical composition meets the GOST requirements, there is no element segregation by volume, the mechanical properties are not inferior to those in forged metal.

Appolonov A.A. Evaluation of Thermal Conditions and Hydraulic Parameters of a Hydraulic Slag Granulation Plant
Thermal conditions and hydraulic parameters of a plant for hydraulic granulation of acid electric furnace slags designed by the Rubtsovsk PKTI Avtokuzlitmash are discussed.
An equation for the plant's heat balance is proposed, by which the temperature of water used for slag granulation and the steaming rates have been calculated. It has been shown that the plant after several slag taps arrives at steady-state conditions with a water temperature close to the boiling point, and the heat released by slag is mainly consumed for steaming.
Reliable slag dispersion is provided by a jet of water directed onto the stream of slag and having a specific kinetic energy of 600 W per 1 kg of slag a second. It has been shown that there exists an optimum ratio of the consumption in the water supply system and the cross-section of the muzzle that forms the jet for the dispersion of slag, at which ratio the kinetic energy of the water jet has its maximum value.

Marshirov V.V. et al. High-Precision Temperature Regulation
The device for precision monitoring and stabilization of temperatures of various heating devices is described. Contains: an analog-digital converter ICP-7018 - for a digitization of temperatures, computer, thyristor switches and board for a galvanic outcome between switches and computer. Allows to operate operation of four independent devices, to evaluate aberrations of the real temperatures from necessary and postponed start on execution

Robakidze D.V. et al. The Controlled Semicontinuous Suspension Casting of Component Blanks for the Heavy Engineering Industry
The article represents the modern condition of the question of a semicontinious suspension casting of compound blank (compound rolls and rollers) for heavy engineering industry. The problem of metrological support of the casting process is stated. The particularities of existing means and devices are analyzed, disavdanges and ways of eliminating them are shown. The measuring system for casting velocity has been improved. The new technological diagram of continuous dosing of minor metal fractions is worked out. A functional block diagram for automatic control of dosing process is presented. Operation principles of suggested technological systems is described.
