Melting. Melt Treatment

Malinovsky V.S. The Technical-and-Economic Results of the Industrial Assimilation of Direct Current Furnaces of the New Generation
The technology and equipment of direct current arc furnaces of the new generation are based on the most complete use of the theoretical basics of metallurgy, accumulated experience of production and operation of other types of furnaces, results of the technological progress in the field of electrical engineering, other fields of science and engineering. High equipment performance is achieved by using the concept of creating an interrelated complex, and using it, technological solutions developed and patented by us when creating the direct current arc furnace equipment.

Sedelnikov V.V. et al. Effect of Ultradispersed Powders on the Shape of Crystals and Properties of Crystallizing Systems
In this article it is experimentally proved that with modification of solution of ultradisperse the character of solution by means of crystals is similar to changes of these parameters with modification molecular impurities.

Gavrilin I.V. Remelting Technology for Zinc Waste and Oxides
When melting zinc and zinc alloys, active oxidation of zinc with air oxygen takes place, and there forms a great amount of sludge, splashes mainly consisting of zinc oxide mixed with metal. At large metal works there forms a great amount of so-called zinc dross mainly consisting of powdered zinc oxide with metal inclusions. In a number of processes there forms powdered zinc oxide containing no inclusions of free metal.
All these kinds of zinc oxide can be reduced to metal zinc by our newly developed method of melting in solid-liquid state using aluminothermy. The method is also notable for use of low melting temperatures.
The article sets forth the basics of the technology, charge calculations, etc.

Modern Materials

Muravyov S.N. Diagnostics of Fatigue Strength of Materials Based on Artificial Intelligence
Diagnostics of fatigue failure process based on fractal analysis of acoustic emission signals has been developed. As a result of investigations, a neural network presenting a model of the dynamic system of fatigue failure of materials has been obtained.

Nguen Van Tan et al. Results of Industrial Application of a Cast Composite in Vietnam
The results of studies and industrial using of the wear-resistant cast composition materials (CCМ) of system "copper - steel" in conditions of Vietnam are presented. It is shown that resource of functioning of the bearings of slide from CCМ in 3-5 once above, than resource of bearings from traditional tribomaterials from wear-resistant bronze and cast iron. Production of bearings of slide and others tribodetails from CCМ is organised on the base of pilot production of Institute RITM (Hanoi).

Muravyov V.I. et al. Dependence of the Mechanical Properties of Grade ML-5 Alloy on its Microstructure
Experimentally, using worked-out methods, it has been established that the mechanical properties of parts (made of grade ML-5 alloy) depend on the heat treatment conditions, i. e. on the microstructure. In particular, failure occurred at loads lower than acceptable and at absence of casting defects - microporosities, air bubbles, inclusions.

21st Century Technologies

Ivanova V.S. Iron Nanopowders of Low-Temperature Hydrogen Recovery
The low-temperature hydrogen recovery of iron-containing raw materials with colloid particle sizes allows obtaining iron nanopowders in the self-controlled synthesis conditions. The chemical transformations during the low-temperature hydrogen recovery of iron-containing raw materials from one stable chemical compound into another runs through metastable compounds. During the transformation of α-Fe2O3 > Fe3O4 in the substance being recovered the presence of γ-Fe2O3 has been found. There are some grounds to consider that the transformation Fe3O4 > Fe is accompanied by the origination of FeO in the substance being recovered and at the temperature < 570°С. The obtained iron nanoparticles have a core of ?-iron and are surrounded by an oxide capsule containing all comparatively stable iron oxides.
The iron nanopowders of low-temperature hydrogen recovery find application as biologically active components of agricultural preparations of the new generation.

Oksogoyev A.A. Strain Hardening and Heat Inertia Effect. Part 2
Mathematical and physical simulation of the non-linear thermomechanics of the elasticoplastic deformation of the ABT-1 type Al -alloy under the impact interaction with the energy-carrying particle (shot) from ШХ15 steel has been carried out. The heat inertia effect in the intensification regime in the non-linear thermo-conductive media, predicted by Samarsky A.A., Kurdjumov S.P. and others, has been established. The fractal-synergetic analysis of the non-equilibrium dynamic processes of the self-organizing structure-formation in the heat inertia volume has been given. The conception of this analysis may serve as a base to create self-governing (extreme) management technologies for the technological heredity of the metallic materials under their synthesis of the surface-strengthening technology and the materials work in the construction.
