The experience of spheroidizing treatment of large volumes of molten iron in 10-75 t ladles for the production of large castings up to 100 t in weight from nodular iron is described. Stability, efficiency and environmental safety of the spheroidizing treatment process (MDS process) using modifying mixture, which ensures its interaction with the melt without pyroeffect and heavy smoke emission, is shown. At the same time, the new generation modifiers with a microcrystalline structure are most effective for the spheroidizing treatment. Molds for the manufacture of such iron castings should have the required volume of pouring bushes to average the composition and temperature of the cast iron coming from different ladles, as well as to carry out the additional graphitizing modification process.

Ermakov M.A., Petrakov G.R., Laponogova P.A. Effect of small cerium additives on the hardness of synthetic chromium cast iron
Some changes in the properties of chrome white iron appeared in case of introduction of various amounts of cerium were studied in this work. A sharp increase in hardness was obtained when 0.15% Ce and higher was introduced into the iron. More researches are needed to explain the reasons of this phenomenon.

Kirievskii B.A., Moiseyev Y.V. The structure and properties of copper with chromium iron additions
There are represented the short survey of demands to electrical contact alloys and peculiarity of copper alloyed chromium cast iron. In addition to metallurgical problems and their solutions, we have considered an influence of the processes parameters in case of production of castings from chrome bronzes, such as the conditions for their melting, an effect of modification, etc.

Marukovich E.I., Stetsenko V.Y. Technological problems of modifying of structure of castings from silumins. Solutions
It is shown that the main technological problems of modifying of structure of castings from silumins are: absence of the universal modifiers, limitation of their action; saturation of a melt hydrogen and oxide of silicon. Impurity modifiers do not solve these problems. They can be solved by method of hereditary modifying. For this purpose it is necessary to use the castings from silumin with a high-dispersible microstructure received by casting in a crystallizer with a high speed of cooling.

Zarubina O.A., Zarubin A.M., Korotchenko A.Yu. An estimation of the oxide inclusion content in chill castings from Al alloys at the stage of technology development
The influence of the mold filling rate on the content of oxide inclusions in castings made of aluminum alloys is considered. The existing methods of estimating the probability of formation defects in the casting associated with the conditions of oxidation processes during the melt flow through the channels of the mold are analyzed. The criterion for evaluation of contamination metal oxides when using numerical modeling casting molds was proposed. A comparative analysis of the results of numerical simulation with the data of field experiments was performed. The influence of the geometry of the technological sample on the critical values of the re number is shown.
