In this work, the effect of the alloying elements content inside the boundaries of Russian state standard GOST 2856-79 and effect of cooling rate at solidification on the alloy corrosion resistance of widely used in aircraft industry ML10 (NZ30K) magnesium alloy were investigated. In order to provide different cooling rates, the ingots were casted into molds made of steel and resin bonded sand. This behavior associated with an increase in the amount of the Mg41Nd5 phase that not fully dissolved during the heat treatment. The cooling rate increasing during solidification leads to a slight decrease in the corrosion rate of the alloy due to a Mg41Nd5 eutectic phase undissolved particles size reduction. The maximum corrosion resistance of the ML10 (NZ30K) alloy can be achieved only when the complete dissolution of the Mg41Nd5 eutectic phase is provided.
