Andreev V.V. Technological characteristics of producing vermicular graphite iron of high-grades
A technology has been developed for producing high-grade vermicular graphite iron (SCh25, SCh30 and SCh35) as separately cast samples using graphitizing modification with SIBAR22 barium-bearing modifier. It was shown that at a relatively low consumption of the 0.1...0.25% Ba containing modifier the strength properties of high grade irons are steadily achieved in the separately cast samples.
Keywords:Vermicular graphite iron, structure, mechanical properties, graphitizing modification, silicobarium modifier, separately cast billets (samples).

Mukhina I.Yu., Duyunova V.A. Fundamentals of the melting technology of magnesium alloys in protective environments
The essence of the process of melting of Mg alloys without the use of refining flux covers is the carrying out the process in the furnaces closed with lids in the protective gas atmosphere instead of chloride-fluoride fluxes. It eliminates the flux corrosion, improves mechanical properties, reduces irrecoverable losses of metals, and allows the process to be automated. The gas mixture used instead of fluxes provides a stable protective film on the melt/gas interface, which prevents interaction of Mg-alloy with atmospheric oxygen, oxidation and contamination of the alloy with non-metallic inclusions. Modification of Mg-Al-Zn alloys is carried out by blowing of the melt with one of the carbon-bearing oxygen-free gases, and Mg-Zn-Zr and Mg-REM-Zr alloys ? by introducing Mg-Zr alloying component. Losses of rare earth metals, as well as iron wastes and irrecoverable losses of metal, melting time, power consumption, and labor intensity are reduced by 10-15% in case of flux-free melting. The flux-free melting of Mg-alloys is intended for production of intricate-shaped castings from 3.0 up to 350 kg in weight used in aviation and defense equipment.
Keywords:Melting, protective media, toxicology, magnesium alloys, equipment.

Ermolenko A.A., Tkachenko S.S., Kolody G.A., Znamensky L.G. Cold-hardening sands based on alumoborphosphate concentrate. State and development prospects (inorganics vs organics)
The technologies of casting into molds made from cold-hardening sand mixtures based on organic resins and inorganic metal phosphate binders are compared. The latter is preferable in terms of a number of process parameters. In addition, the problem of the labor and environment protection can be completely solved without additional investments.
Keywords:Casting into the molds from cold-hardening sand mixtures, inorganic binders, alumoborphosphate concentrate, high-effective environmentally friendly technology.

Nikitin V.I., Kirpichev V.А., Barinov А.Yu., Dubov D.V. The use of malleable molds for receiving cast samples from high-alloy
Analyzed and shown the shortcomings of chill mold designs for obtaining separately cast samples for mechanical testing of aluminum casting alloys. The ideas of A.I. Veinik on dividing the chill mold into separate parts. A chill mold has been manufactured and tested with a pliable effect. Tests of mechanical properties AM4.5Kd and AMg6 alloys have been carried out. Residual thermal stresses during casting of specimens into pliable and solid chill molds have been determined. The conditions for obtaining high-quality cast samples are determined.
Keywords:Separately cast samples, chill mold, cracks, compliance effect, aluminum alloys, mechanical properties, thermal stresses.

Cheberyak O.I., Chuvagin N.F. Analysis of design features of the pressing unit of LPD machines
The design features of pressing units used in modern Russian and foreign LPD machines with a horizontal cold pressing chamber are considered.
Keywords:Injection molding, extrusion unit, pressure chamber, pressing piston.

Echin A.B. Defects in castings arising during centrifugal casting of titanium aluminide alloys
The main types of defects (blisters, porosity, metal penetration, misrun, hot cracks) arising during centrifugal casting of gamma titanium aluminide alloys are given. Technological methods of elimination and minimization of castings defects in titanium castings are proposed.
Key words:Titanium alloys, centrifugal casting, hot cracks, intermetallics, crystallization interval.

Mikhaltsov A.M., Skaskevich A.A., Tsishkova Yа.I. Tribotechnical characteristics of materials used in the development of lubricants for casting under pressure of aluminum alloys
The article describes the requirements for lubricants (release coatings) used in injection molding of aluminum alloys and polymeric materials. It has been established that as materials used in the development of a multifunctional lubricant composition for casting aluminum alloys and polymer products, it is advisable to use a fraction of soap stock and fus after their preliminary sedimentation (at least 3 months). It is shown that the smallest value of the coefficient of friction at the time of indenter breaking on the surface of the steel disk was obtained using a fus. Moreover, the value of the coefficient of friction is 14–33% lower than the same indicator for other studied lubricants (petroleum jelly, PMS-100 and soap stock). It was found that in the mode of reciprocal movement of the indenter on the surface of the steel disk, the coefficient of friction when using a fus is 1,7–3,3 times lower than when using Vaseline, PMS-100 and soap stock as lubricant.
Keywords:Lubricant, injection molding, aluminum alloys, soap stock, fus, polymethylsiloxane liquid, petroleum jelly, tribometer, coefficient of friction.
