Timchenko S.L. et al. Effect of Electric Current on the Crystallization of an Aluminum Alloy
Effect of direct current with a density of ? ~ 104 … 107 A/m2 on the process of crystallization of an AlSi alloy in sand mold casting and properties of the casting material were experimentally studied. Use of electric current in the crystallization process allows to reversibly change the amount of solid and liquid phases, i. e. makes it possible to control the crystallization process variables. The physical-and-mechanical properties of castings improve, and the structure of samples' material becomes anisotropic, which is not related to the effect of the thermal field.

Poklad V.A. et al. Production of Cast Housing Parts for Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Oil Units by Directional Solidification
Analysis of castings range for aircraft gas-turbine engines shows that all parts can be cast by directional solidification. For working through the process they have chosen the most complex and labor-intensive parts having a complex configuration and cylindrical housings intersecting in perpendicular directions. Directional solidification fully ensures the production of oil, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and dense castings having a complex configuration.

Semyonov V.I. et al. Controlling Castings Formation in Squeeze Casting
The problem of calculating the kinematical characteristics of the half-mold movement speed regulator - profile of the cam controlling the regulator of the half-mold drive pump has been resolved. The system of maintaining the half-mold movement speed automatically realizes the optimized hydrodynamic and thermal conditions of squeeze casting.

Pomerantsev G.V. et al. Metalcasting in Stomatology
It is noted that the casting quality determines the success of the whole treatment in stomatology. The main stages of making castings for stomatological purposes are discussed, factors influencing the denture quality are analyzed and illustrated.

Medennikov Y.M. Investigating the Operation of Die Casting Die Vents

Belikov O.A. et al. Automatic Regulation of Casting Cooling Duration in the Mold on Flexible Automatic Molding Lines
The article discusses technological, technical and economic aspects of using controlled (by duration) casting cooling (CCC) in an expendable sand mold and methods of realizing CCC on flexible automatic molding lines.

Yeliseyev Y.S. et al. Upgrading the Vacuum Melting Unit with Bottom Discharge
The results of upgrading of the vacuum melting unit with bottom discharge VPDS-1 for casting large-size parts weighing up to 80 kg are presented. Design features of the melting-and-pouring unit and bottom discharge crucible are shown. The advantages of the metal melting process in a crucible with bottom discharge and further steps in improving the technical capabilities of the unit for casting large-size gas-turbine plant components are set forth.

Vasilyev V.A. et al. Peculiarities of Building Virtual Patterns for the Methods of Rapid Prototyping
The main methods of creating virtual patterns by which patterns are grown on rapid prototyping units. Based on the analysis of results of using different methods, it has been shown that, using combined simulation, a good work-up of the pattern surface can be ensured and the duration of computer simulation can be reduced.

Morozov V.V. et al. Use of Patterns Made by the Laser Stereolithography Method in the Tekcast Process
Capabilities of the Tekcast-process for making castings using patterns made by the stereolithography methods are shown. It has been found that, to ensure high mold quality, prior to making a mold, patterns must be dried at a temperature of about 70°C. Examples of castings are given.

Zarubina O.A. Studying the Effect of the Rapid Prototyping Method on the Dimensional Accuracy of Pattern Making

Solyakov D.A. et al. Benzene Gas Evolution during Thermal Destruction of Cores Made by Hotbox and Amine Coldbox Processes
Thermal destruction of cores made by hotbox and amine coldbox processes, specifically, benzene gas evolution has been investigated. Histograms have been drawn up.
Analysis of averaged results of specific gas evolution has shown that the amine coldbox process is less toxic.

Lapshina N.A. Whether the "Tsar-Cannon" in the Kremlin Could Shoot without the Risk of Destroying the Barrel

Pavlichenko Y.S. What the Bell Ringing Depends on

Zarubin A.M. et al. About the Mathematical Simulation of Casting Machine Operation Processes
Approaches to creating mathematical models of complex casting machines are shown. A model of a low-pressure die casting machine and the sequence of constructing the model are given as an example. Problems that arise in constructing models and how they can be resolved are shown by the example of a model of the pressing mechanism of a die casting machine.

Verbitsky V.I. et al. Simulation of the Barrel Mixer Operation Process
Advantages of continuous barrel mixers under the conditions of large-tonnage production are shown. A mathematical model that allows determining optimal process and design parameters of mixers is given. The investigations have shown that a mixer drive having all bearing rollers as drive rollers is the most economical.
